Greetings from 'Curiopolis'-land!

I am actually musing from Curiopolis-land tonight.
I have been working with my sister to get her etsy shop off the ground since last November. We had a stylized shoot one weekend and then I have periodically been coming here to photograph all the amazing treasures she has been collecting for the past 6 months from all over the globe. This weekend was no exception..

Meet my latest models...

I think most of you will recognize this young gentleman. He has NO strings to hold him down and is one of the most charming wooden boys I have ever met. We became fast friends. He was so accommodating and posed for me quite well. (I think he sneaks downstairs late at night and watches "America's Top Model" if you really want to know.)

His arms and legs move so well...he can stand and sit with the best of them! He always turned and looked exactly where I needed him to and was continually ready with a lovely smile( : of course the only real worry  I had was that he would start speaking, and we all know what happens when he lies...that could have proven to be quite difficult to photograph.
I do NOT think he will appreciate the watermark right over his face...but we must do what we must do.
He really is ruggedly handsome don't you think?

Then there is Leo....

Once again, quite handsome, but in a regal sort of fashion. This worldly, tawny-haired prince has just been waiting patiently for someone to come along and free him from his cage...and that lucky person was me!
He comes directly from Taiwan, quite vintage, and is bone china. He was quite thankful toward me and told me that if I needed anything just give him a roar and he would come to my rescue. Glad I have him on MY team for sure.

Meet two of the most playful guys in the lot....

I had a tough time getting these two to stop romping around. They were all over the place and I was lucky to  catch them in this pose. The white and brown pinto was made in Germany and has an air of elegance about him. The brown beauty is porcelain and just made me smile every time I looked into his face. Handsome is as handsome does.

I also had the pleasure of meeting and working with this handsome devil...

He and Pinocchio really liked hanging out together.

Another guy that made me smile. He is quite old (I actually can't help but think of the 'old skin horse' in "Velveteen Rabbit" when I look at him), and has a 'rustic' charm. He is made of cast iron and has a little wear and tear. It is quite clear he was truly loved. I had no problem with him just sitting pretty and patiently waiting for me to capture his sweetness.

The only female I worked with today had a uniqueness all her own...

'Granny Dillo' has all the makings of a child's favorite drag-along plaything.

She is hand crafted from Texas and a representation of the official mascot of the same state. She comes complete with bloomers with a hole for her long rumply tail. Her face tells you everything about her. She is straightforward, funny, and extremely well preserved. Her little blue friend is one of the 'Curiopolis' mascots.
You will find 'Blue' in various different places all over the shop(official open date announcement to come soon).

These models were so much fun to work with...it was almost like being a child again, arranging and rearranging all my loved ones. This time though, I got to capture their spirit and set them free all at the same time. What fun!gree
